OSSP SHARPENS THE SAW
The Office of the Secretary to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan underwent a series of soft skills training in Time Management and Leadership. Duly supported by our lovely Vice-Governor Hon. Aurora Virginia Almonte and the gregarious Board Members from the Committee on Human Resource and Government Reorganization: BM Zaldy G. Daminar (Chairperson); BM Edilma C. Bulawin (Vice Chairperson); BM Lovely Liezl B. Yape (Member) and BM Simplicia O. Neri (Member), all regular employees and Legislative & Administrative staff of Board Members, headed by the Secretary to the Sanggunian herself, Atty. Irene T. Zapatos, took part in the Capacity Development initiative.
The training for Time Management was conducted in three separate batches last June 13, 26, 27 2014 while the lone batch for Leadership training was on June 30, 2014 at the PGMO Function Hall. Representatives from HRMDO (Human Resource Management Development Office) and the CSC (Civil Service Commission) were also invited. Carla Mae Villegas, Capacity Development Specialist was commissioned as the sole Facilitator of the Training Program.
When asked to speak regarding the Training, Atty. Zapatos conveys her utmost pleasure that the initiative finally came to materialize. “This has long been overdue and was part of our Strategic Plan, since then. It feels good that we were given the opportunity to carry out the Training Program. We were provided the needed support and resources and for that, we are grateful,” she said.
The Training Program was borne out of the collaborative effort of the Internal Human Resource Section of the OSSP. It was created and designed using internal resources that enabled the Organization to launch the project at very minimal costs. Methodology used was part lecture and part group activities that allowed better assimilation of learning for greater impact.
The OSSP aims to capitalize on their strengths and overcome their weakness as an Organization to provide excellent and unparalleled public service. With this goal in mind, it actively seeks ways to develop the knowledge and skills of its people with the emphasis of optimizing efficiency and building their leadership presence.
To keep up with the growing demands of the Province requires leverage. And in leveraging, it is important that one continuously sharpens the saw.
