SP STRENGTHENS FOUNDATION
The dust has finally settled. The coast is now clear. We can all start moving forward, towards the far-reaching horizon. It wasn’t long before we experienced the most ardent yet most divisive National elections in Philippine history. In the age of social media, we saw and heard the clamor for change in the government system. We heard the voice of the majority. They have spoken and they have chosen the leaders for the next three to six years.
Come July 1, 2016, we are out with the old and in with the new. As we move forward, we also need to briefly look back. To see how far we’ve gone, to see where we’re currently at, to see if we’re on the right track so we can pick up where we left off and continue moving forward.
Last June 23, 2016, the Office of the Secretary to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (OSSP) looked back on its three-year journey. And what better way to commemorate the term that was (2013-2016), but rejoice over the triumphs/victories of our legislators during their incumbency. It was also the perfect opportunity to give recognition to the legislators who stood out in terms of legislative achievements.
The 5th SP Recognition and Awards Night was mainly an acknowledgement of exceptional performance in the field of legislation. Additionally, it was an occasion that paid tribute to the Outgoing Board Members for their invaluable contribution to the Province of Misamis Occidental. Vice-Governor and Presiding Officer, Hon. Aurora Virginia M. Almonte expressed her gratitude to all the legislators under her administration for their support on her thrusts and visions. The Provincial Governor, Hon. Herminia M. Ramiro shared the same sentiments and further called for unity, requesting full support for the incoming elective officials who will take over and carry on the legacy of those who came before them.
Likewise, the Outgoing officials conveyed their gratitude to our Provincial Governor and Vice Governor for the leadership and the unequivocal support to their individual and collective causes that made a difference to the lives of their constituents. A few even expressed having mixed/bittersweet emotions during the affair, stating they will certainly miss working with their contemporaries who they have amicable bonds with and yet, a part of them is looking forward to spend more time with their families who have taken a back-seat next to their commitment to serve the general public.
For many, the event was the grand finale of three (3) fruitful years in public service and the emblem of hope for continuity of the foundation that has been laid for generations.
Congratulations to the 2013-2016 Awardees!
