Inauguration and Oath-Taking Ceremony
The tension and pressure from the recent election campaign had already subsided. Votes were already cast. The people had already chosen. For the office term 2016 to 2019, some of the winning electoral candidates remained while some just had their final term.
In the Province of Misamis Occidental, the Inauguration and Oath-Taking Ceremony of the new set of provincial leaders was conducted on June 29, 2016 at the Provincial Capitol Grounds, Oroquieta City.
The ceremony commenced with the traditional fetching of the Governor by Hon. Aurora Virginia M. Almonte, who is now on her second term as the Vice-Governor of Misamis Occidental. It then ensued with an opening message which was delivered by the Chairperson of the 2016 Committee on the Inaugural Ceremony, Engr. Henry Ken F. Regalado.
The Administering Officers for this year’s Inauguration and Oath-Taking Ceremony were Hon. Executive Judge Edmundo P. Pintac of RTC 10th Judicial Region, Branch 15, Ozamiz City and Hon. Nora L. Montejo, the Presiding Officer of RTC Branch 14 and the Executive Judge of RTC, Oroquieta City. Hon. Pintac administered the Oath of Office to all the Honorable Vice-Mayors, Mayors, and Members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Misamis Occidental, and to Congressman Henry S. Oaminal, the Representative of the 2nd District of this province. On the other hand, Hon. Montejo administered the Oath of Office to Congressman Jorge T. Almonte, the Representative of the 1st District of Misamis Occidental, to Hon. Aurora Virginia M. Almonte, the Provincial Vice-Governor, and to Hon. Herminia M. Ramiro, the Provincial Governor.
Thereafter, Governor Ramiro delivered her Inaugural Address in which she made mention of how blissful and grateful she is for the active support and participation from the different provincial officials down to the different LGU’s and NGO’s in making her GO HERMIE Program feasible. Thus, she quoted “One thing I’m so proud with our political leaders in the province is that no matter how intense our election campaigns are, and no matter which side we stood in the past elections, when we get down to work, we always join hands in unity if only to serve our constituents better. At least, that’s what you showed me in my 6 years as Governor.”
The Governor then ended her speech saying, “As a leader, I hold no illusion that power is perpetual. It is bound by time. In the time accorded to us, let us leave an indelible mark in the history that in the future, we could look back at this time with pride and fondness. Let us put politics aside and join hands in shaping a better future for our children and our children’s children.”
The occasion concluded with an entertainment brought by the actor-comedian and one of ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime hosts, Mr. Vhong Navarro. This indeed marked a successful event as well as the official start of a new and better future for Misamis Occidental.
